Amazing Stories of Measurement
The 2015 NCSL International (NCSLI) Workshop and Symposium in Grapevine, Texas, featured a series of talks that brought measurement experts together to tell their “Amazing Stories of Measurement.”
Here are three presentations from the series.
- John Butler (NIST) discusses forensic DNA quality and metrology – what’s possible now and where the technology is going.
- Carl Williams (NIST) and Alan Steele (NRC Canada) give a playful educational talk about the upcoming redefinition of the International System of Units (SI), including a demonstration of a toy Kibble (watt) balance made with LEGO® bricks.
- And Gert Rietveld (VSL-Dutch Metrology Institute) speaks about the electrical grid and the promise of smart grid metrology.
All speakers lead significant programs at their respective national metrology institutes.
